Suzy Winters, Past-Chair Program Developer, Central Piedmont Community College As a woman, a mother of women, and a grandmother of girls, I want nothing less than a world full of women who are strong and use their strength to make this world better. GOTR prepares girls for this vital role. When even one girl becomes strong, we all become stronger.
Andy Dinkin, Board Chair Vice President of Business Development, Levine Properties Growing up with a brother and having a life that involved athletics, I was never exposed to the issues facing girls and women. When I had a daughter, my outlook expanded and I saw GOTR as a vehicle to improve the life of my little girl and the lives of young women everywhere.
Dana Luciani, Vice-Chair Senior Vice President/ Channel Integration, Bank of America I joined GOTR board because I've personally experienced being in the "girl box" and how being in this position can play itself out. I wanted to be a part of helping grow an organization that is helping girls stay out of the girl box and pave their own path. Through this journey I have learned more about myself and ways to help my daughter pave her own path.
Robert Bales SVP, Operations/Treasurer, Quaero Corporation I was attracted to the passion for the cause that was demonstrated by the individuals associated with GOTR. Additionally as a father of 2 daughters, I appreciated the mission and methods of the organization to provide a self enrichment program to young girls.
Amy Combs Psychologist and Director, Charlotte Center for Balanced Living I became involved in GOTR to be a part of an organization that gives back to the community by touching the lives of individual girls and their families. As a psychologist, I help women and girls after something has gone off course in their lives. In working with GOTR, I am grateful to have the opportunity to simultaneously be involved with an organization that helps girls develop the resources to keep from going off course in the first place which is the ultimate goal!
Sarah Hirshland Having met Molly and read both of her books I continue to be inspired by her personal stories and the way in which she has channeled her energy to positively impact the lives of young ladies. Each of us faces challenges throughout our lives and we must find strength and wisdom to help steer ourselves in the right direction. Girls on the Run is that strength and wisdom for thousands of girls during some of the most difficult years of growing up. It is an honor to be a part of such an important organization.
Kathi Lucchesi Let's face it - girls rock! Girls can do anything, go anywhere, be anyone they want to be - the only problem is that some girls don't know that they possess this amazing ability. I love Girls on the Run for the simple fact that its mission is make sure every girl knows she's strong, beautiful and amazing and, most importantly, that she can do anything, go anywhere and be anyone she wants to be - after all, we girls hold up this world! I'm so thrilled and honored to play a small part in making sure that each and every girl on the planet knows that she totally rocks!
Sue Gorman Being a mom of a GOTR girl I totally “get” what this program gives to girls. My daughter has been a participant multiple times and the messages are relevant and pertinent to her and positively reinforce the messages she gets at home. However, knowing how much good this program does for girls just like my daughter, I am even more pleased to know what GOTR can do for girls not like my daughters. The girls who are not hearing positive messaging at home, who are not encouraged daily to feel good about themselves, and who are not inspired to dream to become the strong, confident, positive woman they can surely be. It is my pleasure to be involved with GOTR – not just for my daughter, but for all the girls out there.
