GOTR Summer: Week One

By Suzanna McCloskey on 07/02/2015 | Featured Columns & Series

Summertime is officially here, and we're celebrating GOTR style!

Each week, we will be updating the GOTR Summer page with photos, healthy tips and weekly challenges to help you stay connected with Girls on the Run!

Featured Photos

Where will you take your GOTR gear this summer? From Walt Disney World to your local waterpark, share your photos on social media and tag #GOTRSummer so we can see them!

Week 1 Healthy Tip: Protect Your Skin

Stay sun safe with sunscreen! Be sure to pick one that protects against UVA and UVB rays and has an SPF of 30 or higher. Since your eyes need protection as well, remember to also wear sunglasses to protect against ocular melanoma.

Week 1 Staying Connected Challenge: Star Power

This week, practice using your Star Power and help others recognize and use their star power too! When you use your Star Power, you make a choice to be positive, such as when you turn negative self-talk into positive self-talk or turn a not-so-good day around using using visualization to imagine your star shining bright through those dark clouds.

Read more on our GOTR Summer page, and stay tuned for another healthy tip and way to stay connected to Girls on the Run next week!
