Projects We Love from the GOTR Giving Platform: November Edition

By Suzanna McCloskey on 11/12/2015 | Featured Columns & Series

Did you know you can make an impact and raise money for Girls on the Run using the GOTR Giving Platform? Engage your network of friends and family to give to Girls on the Run by creating your own fundraising project or give to support an existing project today!

Here are just a few of our favorite projects on the GOTR Giving Platform right now – one in each of the four categories available.

Setting up a project on the GOTR Giving Platform is easy! Click here to find out more and start empowering girls today!

SoleMates – Fundraise as you train for an athletic event.

Coach Allison with Girls on the Run San Diego has spent the past several months training for an Ironman race but says that’s nothing compared to what her Girls on the Run team at a school for children affected by homelessness experiences daily. She sees how Girls on the Run transforms the lives of the girls at the school and wants to help inspire even more of them through Girls on the Run. Coach Allison set up a fundraising project on the GOTR Giving Platform with the goal of funding an entire team at the school next season and is already making great progress toward reaching her fundraising goal. Thank you for inspiring joyful, healthy and confident girls, Allison, and best of luck with meeting your fundraising goal!

Celebrations – Request donations as gifts for your birthday, wedding or any other occasion.

Sue, a board member and coach at Girls on the Run of Sedgwick County (KS), is celebrating her 50th birthday this month by running 50 miles to benefit Girls on the Run! Sue set up a fundraising project on the GOTR Giving Platform with the goal of raising $5,050 for her GOTR council in lieu of gifts for her 50th birthday and is already well on her way to meeting her goal! “Each time I come to practice I am greeted by smiles, hugs and enthusiasm for learning and moving! I am truly lucky to be involved,” Sue says! We appreciate all you do for Girls on the Run of Sedgwick County and are cheering you on as you reach your fundraising goal, Sue!

Limitless Potential – Fundraise as you accomplish your own creative, fun or adventurous goal.

A team of young athletes recently activated its limitless potential by successfully training for a sprint triathlon for  Girls on the Run Central Maryland  and set up a fundraising project on the GOTR Giving Platform to support fundraising efforts. The group has set a $900 fundraising goal to provide scholarships and shoes for girls and help support coach trainings. “We raced in the name of Girls on the Run, whose curriculum taught us that all dreams are possible when you believe in yourself and work hard,” they said. Great job, team!

Girl Power – Raise funds for Girls on the Run without a special event. Simply set up your page and ask friends and family to help empower GOTR girls.

Heart & Sole is Girls on the Run’s new program for middle school girls that creates a positive, structured space for middle school girls to learn about themselves, explore new ideas, cultivate empathy, strengthen connections and develop life skills that will help them as they move through adolescence and beyond. Ten girls at a middle school served by Girls on the Run Greater Chesapeake, wanted to participate in Heart & Sole but did not have the financial resources to do so. By creating a Girl Power project on the GOTR Giving Platform, the council hoped to raise the $1,600 needed to bring the new middle school program to the girls, and they have been incredibly successful, exceeding their fundraising goal to transform the lives of girls!

We hope these projects serve as inspiration as you set up your own project on the GOTR Giving Platform today!
