How to Take Care of Your Body Even When You Are Busy

Looking after our bodies is not always at the forefront of our minds. Whether you’re out paying bills, at work, seeing friends, tidying your house or watching a movie, it’s very easy for life to feel like it’s endlessly busy - which doesn’t leave a lot of time for everything else.

However, in this busy life, you don’t want to run the risk of ‘burning out’ or ignoring your health so much that it leads to long-term health conditions, including stress and high blood pressure. To minimize these risks, here are several tips on how to look after your body when you’re busy.

It’s Okay to Say ‘No’

You might find that your days fill up pretty quickly when you’re saying ‘yes’ to everything. Whether you’re helping a friend out with a project, your girlfriend wants you to come over and hang out for the evening, or there’s cleaning to be done, it’s alright to put things off. As a rule of thumb, if you feel like you need a break, you probably do.

Sleep Well & Properly

Look at any ‘care for your body’ list and you’ll see this point mentioned and that’s because it’s so important. Get enough sleep every single night, and you’ll feel amazing, even after a couple of days.

Start Your Day Well

After you wake up, do you take your time and ease yourself into your day or do you run at it head-first?  When you wake, take 5-10 minutes just to breathe and stretch out your body. You could do this simply in five minutes or actually engage in a full session of yoga and meditation. It’s a great way to wake your body up and to put you in a positive mood.

Stay Social

You’d be surprised how much being anti-social can harm your health. It causes stress, loneliness, sadness, depression and isolation. Even if you’re a self-proclaimed workaholic, sending a couple of texts a few times a week, having a phone call or engaging on social media can make a difference. Most of the time, this will be more than enough to keep them happy and close.

Motivate Yourself Through Photos

You may love or hate motivation photos on websites such as Instagram or Pinterest. However, they can actually be hugely beneficial to your well-being. 

After all, they’re called motivational photos for a reason. Choose positive influences and surround yourself with them. You’ll be surprised how much your sub-conscious absorbs them.

Have ‘You’ Time

When you’re busy, it’s easy to put every single other thing out there as a priority over yourself. But, it’s important to remember that having some space and some proper ‘you’ time is essential for your health and well-being.

Whether you’re sitting playing your PlayStation, watching TV, reading, walking, going to the gym or using your smartphone, if you’re doing something you enjoy, it’s not a waste of time.

Join a Club

If you were to join a club, such as a sports club, maybe yoga, it’s a great way to let go of all your tensions and worries that plague you throughout the day. 

This goes hand in hand with the tip above since you’ll be able to simply forget about what’s going on in your day and focus solely on what you’re actually doing in the present moment.
