National Coach Ambassador Spotlight: Meet Molly!

By Asha Ellison on 12/02/2018 | 2019 National Coach Ambassadors

Meet Molly Johnson! Her fun personality and caring heart have made a huge impact on the life of girls in her community and beyond!

Molly celebrating with a superstar GOTR girl!

Name: Molly Johnson

Nickname: MJ

Occupation: K-1 Intervention Specialist

Location: Troy, Ohio

Who inspires you?

My Mom is my biggest inspiration because she is an amazing example of being a kind, compassionate, confident, empowered woman. She is also my best friend and my biggest supporter! She encourages me to chase my dreams and is always willing to be a listening ear for me when I need to talk. I also love the relationship she has with my Dad. They were high school sweethearts and are still happy, little love birds 43 years later!

Where’s your favorite place in the world?

My favorite place in the whole world is Ohio Stadium at THE Ohio State University on a fall Saturday! Go Buckeyes!

If you could be any animal, which would you be?

I would be an otter. Did you know they hold hands with their partners while sleeping so they don’t float away from each other? Is that not the cutest thing? I would love to be surrounded by my favorite people all the time!

Who is your favorite musical artist/band/group?

Taylor Swift speaks to my soul! I saw her twice in concert this summer with my best friend, Ashley, and I am obsessed with her Reputation Album!

What are you most passionate about?

I am most passionate about empowering girls and women to be confident in themselves and their abilities, to embrace and celebrate their uniqueness, and to use their voices to change the world! Let your Star Power shine brightly, ladies!

What’s your favorite movie?

My favorite movie is Space Jam. I love LeBron James, but Michael Jordan will always be the G.O.A.T. I was also Lola Bunny for Halloween last year!

What’s your favorite way to give back to the community?

My favorite way to give back to my community is volunteering as a Girls on the Run Coach! I love hanging out with the girls from my school as a coach, instead of their teacher. The relationships I form with each member of my team fills my heart with so much joy! I also LOVE to watch my girls work on their Community Impact Project together. This is an amazing way for them to recognize they are capable of making an impact on and giving back to their communities, too!

What show(s) are you currently watching?

My favorite TV Show is The Big Bang Theory. I think Sheldon Cooper is hilarious! I also love to watch The Incredible Dr. Pol, college football games (Go Bucks!), cheerleading competitions, and baking shows.

What’s the coolest thing you’re working on right now?

The coolest thing I am working on right now is the Girls on the Run #LetsTellHer social media campaign! I have been collaborating with many of the women, men, and young people in my community to share empowering messages to the girls in their lives. Completing the sentence “Let’s Tell Her _____” is also an incredible conversation starter. It has shown  me, and so many others, that all those moments growing up when we felt alone, we really weren’t! Everyone struggles to find their niche in the world!

Who would you most like to swap places with for a day?

If I could swap places with anyone for the day, I would pick Megan Markle. I would love to travel the world and volunteer my time and resources to causes I feel passionately about. Also, who wouldn’t want to be a royalty for a day and hang out with Prince Harry?

What’s the best meal you’ve ever had?

The best meal I have ever had would be my Grandma Shirley’s homemade pizza! Even though my mom and I loved making homemade pizza at our house, it always seemed to taste better when we made them at Grandma’s.

If you could visit anywhere in the world, where would you go?

If I could visit anywhere in the world, I would go to South Africa to cage dive with Great White sharks! Sharks are my favorite animal, and this has been on my Bucket List since I saw it on Discovery Channel’s Shark Week!

What’s your hidden talent?

I’m not sure it’s a hidden talent, but if you spend too much time with me, I may brainwash you into believing in yourself. You may develop the crazy idea that your dreams can become your reality. You might even decide to be brave enough to allow your light to shine brightly! Consider yourselves warned!

If you were a crayon, what color would you be?

Black! Woah, right?! People are always shocked to hear my favorite color is black because of my bubbly personality.

What is your favorite family tradition?

My favorite family tradition is watching A Charlie Brown Christmas together on Christmas Eve and then driving through Whispering Christmas at Fort St. Clair and Storybook Lane in Eaton, Ohio. Christmas is my family’s favorite time of year!

What is your quote to live by?

I can’t pick just one!

1. “No matter what happens in life, be good to people. Being good to people is an incredible legacy to leave behind.” - Taylor Swift

2. “I don’t believe in killing people with kindness. I believe in saving them with it.”

3. “She’s just a good woman who is trying to become a better woman while empowering the next woman.”
