National Coach Ambassador Spotlight: Meet Rita!

Meet Marguerita! Rita knows what it means to go the distance and serves as a Girls on the Run SoleMate. As such, Rita helps raise critical funds so that girls in her community have increased access to life-changing Girls on the Run programming!

Who inspires you?

Where’s your favorite place in the world?

Bali, Indonesia and Tokyo, Japan. I love them both.

If you could be any animal, which would you be? 

Sloth

What’s the last book you read or who is your favorite musical artist/band/group?

Uncensored by Zachary Wood. I love all music by Pitbull and Daddy Yankee. Hearing Latin beats at mile 26 definitely helped me cross the finish line. 

What are you most passionate about?

Inspiring and uplifting others. I love helping people gain clarity, confidence and control over their personal finances. 

What’s your favorite movie? 

I love all Disney movies. 🙂 Mulan is one of my favorites. My daughters love Frozen too. 

What’s your favorite way to give back to the community?

I absolutely love running as a SoleMate for Girls on the Run. I also provide pro bono financial counseling for underserved and underrepresented communities 

What show(s) are you currently watching?

I don’t watch tv,  but I absolutely love music.

What’s the coolest thing you’re working on right now?

Helping women rebuild their lives after devastating life-changing events, such as divorce or loss of a loved one.

Who would you most like to swap places with for a day? 

I’d love be an herbalist for the day. I love plants and find aromatherapy so calming. I appreciate the healing properties of essential oils. Lavender, rosemary and neroli are my favorites. 

What’s the best meal you’ve ever had? 

I love Vietnamese and Thai cuisine. 

If you could visit anywhere in the world, where would you go? 

I want to travel the rest of the Silk Road. 

What’s your hidden talent?

I’m very good with skincare and makeup. I’m also a denim maven. I can help anyone (men and women) find that perfect pair of jeans that makes them feel confident.

If you were a crayon, what color would you be?

Blue 

What is your favorite family tradition?

We make Blessings Baskets for Thanksgiving. We either see a movie, do a craft or a family activity on Black Friday. I’m religious about avoiding the mall on Black Friday.
