The spring Girls on the Run season has ended, you’ve crossed the 5K finish line … now what?
Summer break is the perfect time for girls to continue practicing the lessons they learned at Girls on the Run, from caring for their physical and emotional health to building friendships, giving back, and trying new things. The confidence, connection, and joy girls build throughout the program can last all summer long!
Whether staying active, spreading kindness, or making memories, there are many ways to keep the GOTR spirit shining while school is out. Here are five of our favorites.
Sign Up for a Week of Camp GOTR
Summer is all about adventure, and Camp GOTR is a great way for girls to stay connected to Girls on the Run between seasons. Camp GOTR combines movement, creativity, and friendships in a fun and supportive environment led by trained coaches where girls can continue building confidence.
In a week packed full of engaging activities and interactive lessons, campers practice important life skills while making new friends and creating unforgettable summer memories. Just like during the spring and fall Girls on the Run seasons, Camp GOTR encourages girls to embrace who they are, support each other, and step outside their comfort zones.

Find a Community Service Project
Girls on the Run teaches girls that even small actions can have a big impact. During a traditional GOTR season, teams work together on a Community Impact Project, identifying a need in their community and taking action to help others. Summer is a great opportunity for girls to continue that spirit of service with friends and family.
The project doesn’t have to be big to be meaningful. Girls can collect school supplies for local students, make cards for a nursing home, organize a neighborhood cleanup, or help at a local food pantry. By giving back, girls practice empathy, teamwork, and leadership — values that are built into the Girls on the Run experience.
Get Outside
Get ready to explore the outdoors, move your body, and enjoy nature! Whether going for a walk, riding a bike, visiting a park, gardening, or simply playing outside with friends, spending time outdoors can help you feel energized and connected.
Make outdoor adventures even more fun by completing the Girls on the Run National Outdoors Month Bingo Card. These activities encourage girls to try new things, notice the world around them, and celebrate movement in every form!

Build a Confidence Playlist
Music has a special way of boosting confidence and helping us express ourselves. This summer, girls can create their own “confidence playlist” filled with songs that make them feel strong, joyful, brave, or unstoppable. Whether they choose upbeat dance songs, empowering anthems, or calming favorites, the playlist can become a soundtrack for summer adventures and everyday moments alike.

Start a Kindness Chain
Practicing kindness is one of the simplest ways to keep the Girls on the Run spirit alive. Girls can challenge themselves to complete one small act of kindness each day or week throughout the summer. That could look like writing an encouraging note to a friend, helping a sibling with chores, thanking a coach or teacher, or checking in on someone who may need support.
To track their progress, make a kindness chain using paper links, beads, or stickers! Each act of kindness adds another link to the chain, showing how small moments of care can grow into something powerful over time.
The Girls on the Run season may end, but the lessons girls learn can continue to inspire them every day. Summer offers endless opportunities to stay active, build confidence, strengthen friendships, and make a positive impact in their community. No matter how girls choose to spend their summer, they can carry the GOTR spirit with them!
